Orienting to the process of therapy
How therapy typically unfolds
Step 1 of 5
Getting set up
Your therapist will invite you to our client portal where you can schedule the first appointment, review policies, sign informed consent forms, and verify billing details. You’ll also be asked to fill out standard symptom screeners so your therapist can review your clinical history before the first session.
Step 2 of 5
First session
Therapy starts with an intake session to set the stage for your treatment plan. It involves gathering context and understanding what prompted therapy, what is or isn’t working in your life, and setting early goals.
Step 3 of 5
Finding a rhythm
Most clients begin weekly or biweekly, then adjust as life requires. After a few sessions, we check progress toward the goals that brought you in.
Step 4 of 5
Gaining momentum
Most clients bring what is unfolding in daily life into the room. Your therapist will provide the framework to stay focused on your goals so sessions remain an investment, and not just an appointment.
Step 5 of 5
Graduation
Therapy ends when the original goals have been met. Most clients leave with skills integrated enough to keep growing independently.
